It's time for Mardi Gras!

It's time for Mardi Gras 2011!  Have you got colorful beads?  Traditionally the colors of Mardi Gras beads have special meanings: purple stands for justice, gold symbolizes power and green represents faith... Apparently I got more than enough beads after watching Mardi Gras Galveston Parade, as you may see from my picture below (honestly the outfit would look better without those colorful beads  ;)  )

I also spent a little bit time walking on the beach afterwards. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't so good that I couldn't enjoy the waterfront as much as I wanted.

Denim & White

I have always had a thing for denim jackets or shirts, feeling that denim can make people look younger.  Maybe my impression comes from the fact that we used to wear denim a lot when we were teenagers.   :)

Matching a denim shirt with a pair of white pants brings me the freshness of Spring.  For people who live in colder places, adding a biker leather jacket would also be a good idea.

Inspired by Isabel Marant

I have been fascinated by Isabel Marant's F/W 2010 design of combining the boldness of cropped red leather pants, the cuteness of polka-dots, the toughness of a biker leather jacket,  and the feminineness of pointed-toe heels with bows.  I didn't expect that so many distinctive elements can be mixed and matched seamlessly and beautifully.  As a notorious copy cat, I was desperately looking for a pair red leather pants even though I knew it might be too much for my normal daily life. Luckily, Zara offered a much cheaper alternative (as always), a pair of cropped red jeans, which is surprisingly well-designed and quite flattering. As you may have seen from my previous posts, I have been loving it!    :)

Also, thank myself for not getting rid of my old pointed-toe shoes, so here I am:

Too heavy to carry?

Is the Diego bucket bag too heavy to carry around?  It is indeed very heavy with those stud details, probably even heavier than the Rocco, but I can't help loving its irreplaceable casual yet chic style!

Inspired by Celine

Celine has come up so many eye-catching pieces these several seasons. Leather tee is obviously one of them. Thank H&M and my dear friends who helped me to get those leather tops in stores, finally I have some cheap alternative. Here is my thrifty version:

Shop in my own closet

I got this bright yellow skirt from Club Monaco a couple of years ago. I probably wore it one or two times and then pretty much forgot it. The other day while I was organizing my wardrobe, it caught my eyes again with its unique color.  It has exactly the color I want for this spring, and will undoubtedly add more fun to my working outfit!  I am so glad that I found such a nice piece by shopping in my own closet.  :)

Bell shaped jeans

As spring is coming, I am getting a bit tired of black leggings, skinny pants or harem pants. Maybe It's time to take out your favorite bell shaped jeans or wide leg jeans.   Pairing them with a silk blouse, fur coat or pointy toe shoes will definitely give you some taste of 70's.

Spring is just around the corner!

After being cold for several weeks, finally spring is around the corner!  The sky is so blue, the breeze is so gentle and the temperature is just about right.  Putting on my pleated maxi skirt, let me walk in such a beautiful sunshine!

Happy Rabbit Year: 2010 Recap I

I know this may sound cliché, but 2010 is truly a special year for me. So many things happened in this year in terms of relationship, friendship, work, etc.  I had saddest tears, but also happiest laugh.

As a person who is obsessed in fashion, I used the photos of my outfits to record my 2010. Each outfit/photo reminds me of the feeling at that moment and the story behind it. Reorganizing these photos makes me memorize the pain I had and the happiness I possess.   :)

Thank the people who have been warm, truthful and supportive to me. I cherish every word you said and every little moment we spent together.  I wish you all a very happy, peaceful, healthy, and prosperous new year!

Too old to wear pink?

People always say that almost every girl loves pink.  I am not an exception as I did collect quite some pink clothes a long time ago. As time goes by, I somehow convinced myself that I was too old to wear any pink so I excluded any pinky stuff from my wardrobe.  However, I started to be fascinated by a variety of pink tones and tricks of matching them with other colors lately. I realized that some pink tones can be very fun to play with and even enlighten a dull skin color.  After so long not touching any pink,  I picked several items with blush or dusty rose color in stores.  One of my recent favorites is this Gap leather jacket in blush:

This jacket comes with two colors, so called "off white" and "blush". The "off white" one indeed looks more like light beige. I was caught by this blush color at first sight in the store. I wasn't so sure whether I can pull off such a light pink until I tried it on.  The blush color is subtle, not too girly, and the leather is very soft and creamy.  I think it is versatile and can be easily dressed up or down.  Matching it with a gray dress/skirt as in the picture, or a pair of boyfriend jeans and converse would be good.

Another pinky item is this top in dusty rose from forever 21.  It goes very well with leather pants/shorts or even red skinny, :)

Well, with these new feelings with pink, maybe I should say "never be too old to wear pink"? lol~~

Vegas trip recap

I went to Vegas last Xmas and stayed there for several days.  Here are some pics taken at that time, reminding me of  wonderful memories there.
